Grand Rapids police involved in shooting

The incident occurred near the area of Howard St. SE & Madison Ave. SE.

Grand Rapids police were involved in a shooting situation Thursday night. Police tweeted around 6:30 p.m. that no one was injured.

The incident occurred near the area of Howard St. SE & Madison Ave. SE.

Officers were dispatched to the area to be on the lookout for a subject with a gun.

Police say neither the suspect nor the officer were injured. As of 7:20 p.m. police say the incident was resolved and there was no danger to the community.

The officer involved was placed on leave while Michigan State Police investigate the shooting. The shooting happened shortly after police were called to a standoff situation near the area of Kalamazoo Ave. and Alexander St. SE.
