Crews are working to extinguish a house fire on the city's Northwest Side.

The fire was reported around 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, near Garfield Avenue and 11th Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found a home with smoke and some flames coming from the roof.

It is believed everyone got out of the home safely, according to a dispatcher.

The bulk of the fire was put out around 2:15 p.m. Garfield is closed between Walker Avenue and Leonard Street while firefighters remain at the scene.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
