Arrest made in Georgetown Township Cash Store robbery

A Wyoming man is in the Ottawa County jail on one charge of armed robbery. Police believe he is involved in several payday lending store robberies in West Michigan.

Ottawa County Deputies have arrested a 46-year-old Wyoming man in connection to the robbery of a payday lending store in Georgetown Township.

There have been at least six armed robberies of payday lending stores in West Michigan since November 6, 2018. The suspect is currently facing one charge of armed robbery for the robbery at the Cash Store on Cottonwood Drive just south of Baldwin Street on December 7, 2018.

Detectives from several agencies have been sharing information because it is believe the six robberies or attempted robberies are connected.

After receiving a tip, investigators followed up on leads on the suspect. Late in the afternoon on Wednesday, Dec. 19, he was spotted driving in eastern Ottawa County. Michigan State Police and Ottawa County deputies pulled him over just inside of Kent County. 

Captain Mark Bennett of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department say he was arrested during the traffic stop without incident.

The suspect's name is not being released until after he is arraigned in Ottawa County.
