Opposition group to discuss Barking Boutique at city council meeting

The store owner and staff members are invited to attend along with the public to be a part of the discussion.

GRANDVILLE, Mich. — A group of people calling for others to boycott the Barking Boutique in Grandville is planning to address their concerns to the city council Monday, April 9.

The group "The Barking Boutique Boycott" is planning to attend the meeting at 7 p.m. at City Hall to talk about the business practices of the Grandville store.

The group has set up a Facebook event to spread the word.

The store owner and staff members are invited to attend along with the public to be a part of the discussion. Organizers say, "it is time elected officials learn about the store's activities."

This is not the first time protesters have targeted The Barking Boutique. The owner had to abandon plans for his store in Kentwood and Muskegon before being able to open his doors in Grandville. He has said in the past that he does not get the dogs he sells from puppy mills, and does his best to provide proper care for them.
