GRPD is taking more than 100 kids to a Tigers game

Bus loads of Grand Rapids kids headed to Detroit Monday morning to see the Tigers play.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - What better way to start the summer than with a Tigers game?

Grand Rapids Police Department is loading up bus loads of kids to Detroit for a free baseball game.

GRPD's OnBase baseball program is taking more than 100 kids and 12 officers to a Monday Tigers game. The buses left Huff Park around 11:15 a.m. for a day full of fun.

The special trip is paid for through community donations.

The OnBase program is a partnership between GRPD and the Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department. The program puts together baseball teams of at-risk youth where the kids can learn the game of baseball, and build positive relationships with officers.
