Now through August 13th, Hope Summer Repertory Theatre is presenting Hairspray! It's a high energy musical set in the 1960's with an important message and incredible music.
HSRT is performing the production 15 times throughout the summer. Members from the cast joined the weekend morning news team to talk about what audiences can expect.
Thirty cast members take the stage for this production directed by long-time HSRT member Fred Tessler.
Here's how HSRT's website describes the show: "It’s 1962 and change is in the air. Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart has only one passion: to dance. When she wins a spot on a local TV dance program she quickly becomes a teen-sensation. You’ll stand up and cheer for this irrepressible young woman as she overcomes bullying, bias and big hair!"
Shows are at DeWitt Theater on Hope College's campus. Click here for a link with show times and dates and well as ticket information.
