Tulip Time kicks off in Holland

“I love Dutch Dance, I love the Tulips and I love this art fair."

HOLLAND, Mich. — It was a sea of colors on Saturday as the annual Tulip Time Festival kicked off in Holland. The day started with the Tulip Time run, Dutch dance performances and the Artisan Market where local vendors showed off their items for sale.

“I love Dutch Dance, I love the Tulips and I love this art fair,” said Carol Holt, a vendor for quilt shop Piece by Piece.

The Artisan Market ran from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday with items like American Dolls and clothing, home décor, carved cell phone cases and more. The market will extend into Sunday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival itself runs through May 12.

Attendees will have plenty to snack, with food trucks selling everything from cotton candy and lemonade to festival classics like pizza and elephant ears. People can pair food with fun as they travel to the festival carnival in the Civic Center parking lot, which is open through the duration of the festival.
