West Ottawa teen's rap song got him arrested for threatening another student for 'snitching'

The 17-year-old who was arrested for bringing a gun to school published a rap song threatening the student who turned him in.

HOLLAND, Mich. - Davian Weston, 17, was originally arrested on Sept. 13 for bringing a gun to West Ottawa High School. Then, he was arrested again on Sept. 18 for violating his bond by threatening another student on social media.

Court documents reveal that the threat came through a rap song that Weston posted on SoundCloud, a free online platform for music.

The school district alerted police to the social media threat, in which Weston raps about a specific student. The lyrics named the student who took the video of Weston with the gun on school grounds and then told school officials about the weapon.

The 17-year-old said he didn't plan on hurting the other student, he just wanted people to know that he was "snitching." In the song, Weston raps "Watch your tone...I'm going to hit him on his dome."

Weston's mother told him not to post the song, but he did it anyway. After admitting to posting the song on SoundCloud, the 17-year-old agreed to take it down.

The details of Weston's release dictate that he could not engage in verbally or physically abusive behavior.

The 17-year-old has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, receiving and concealing a stolen firearm and possessing a weapon in a weapon-free zone.
