Kalamazoo residents and businesses are being advised to boil their water for the second time in three days.

City officials issued the boil water advisory Wednesday, stating workers were repairing a water main break on Royce Avenue. A busted pipe lead to loss in water pressure, which prompted the advisory.

Residents and businesses along Royce Avenue, from Moreland Street to Pennway Street, are encouraged to boil their water for at least 2 minutes before consuming it. Water used for bathing does not need to be boiled.

The northeast corner of Royce Avenue and Konkle Street is not included in the advisory.

On Christmas Eve, city officials issued a separate boil water advisory because of a different water main break on portions of North Sage Street and West Main Street. However, this advisory was lifted by 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 26.

Both advisories are expected to be lifted by Dec. 29.
