Robbers cut through walls to break into jewelry store

Burglars cut through two walls to break into a Portage jewelry store.

PORTAGE, Mich. -- Police are looking for the suspects that broke into three businesses to rob a jewelry store.

It happened sometime between late Saturday night and early Sunday afternoon at the Medawar Jewelry on South Westnedge Avenue just south of I-94. Portage Department of Public Safety officers were called to the business at 5715 South Westnedge on a burglary.

Officers found that someone forced their way into that business. The suspects then cut through a wall and gained access to 5719 South Westnedge. They were able to get into Medawar's by cutting through a second wall.

The burglary is being investigated by the Portage Department of Public Safety's Detective Bureau and their Safety Lab Team.
