GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) – The Jason Kinzler Family First Foundation is a unique organization that helps grieving families with financial support.

It was started by Jason's wife Kristi after her husband died running the River Bank Run in 2011.

At the time, Jason was 37 years old. He was a former GVSU football star he kept himself in top shape. He died of sudden cardiac death just a mile from the finish line.

Kristi wanted Jason's life to be remembered for the kind of man he was - always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need. So she started the Kinzler Family First Foundation that allows grieving families to do just that - put their family first during their time of grief by offering financial support for rent, health insurance, or utilities the list just goes on and on.

WZZM 13 Health Reporter Valerie Lego talks with guest speaker and former MSU Quarterback Kirk Cousins about the foundation's work.
