Judge sends Sunny Mart shooter to prison

Jaraun Render sentenced to 14-years in prison for Nov. 17 shooting that injured ex-girlfriend and her male friend.

MUSKEGON, Mich. — Jaraun Render will spend 14-years in prison for shooting an ex-girlfriend and her male friend in the parking lot of a convenience store.

The shooting happened at the Sunny Mart located at the 1300 block of East Apple Avenue in Nov. 2017.

Both victims survived multiple gunshot wounds. Render plead "no-contest" to two counts of assault with intent to murder.

In court Wednesday, he apologized to the victims and to the court for his actions.

At the time of the shooting, Render had three children under the age of three in the back seat of his vehicle.

The children went missing after the shooting, but they were found unharmed in Grand Rapids following an Amber Alert.
