GRPD: One person arrested after long gun fired on NW side

Authorities are still on scene, but said there is no danger to the public.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — One person is in police custody after at least one shot was fired on Grand Rapids' northwest side. 

According to the Grand Rapids Police Department, around 7:10 a.m., officers were sent to the 1200 block of Quarry Ave. NW on reports of a person in the area with a long gun and shots fired. 

When officers arrived, they found a man on the porch of a residence with reported the firearm. 

GRPD said the subject was cooperative and taken into custody without incident. 

Officers found evidence that one round was fired inside the house. No one was injured in the incident. 

GRPD said officers were still on scene as of about 10 a.m., but there is no danger to the public.
