WATERVILET TWP, Mich. - An ambulance transporting a patient to Spectrum Lakeland in St. Joseph late Saturday afternoon rolled over after the driver lost control of the vehicle on westbound I-94.

The Berrien County Sheriff's Office said the ambulance hit slush and snow on the shoulder, causing it to roll over.

A medic in the ambulance, Andrew Sack, 22, sustained deep cuts to his head during the roll over. The patient was a non-priority transport, and she is a 69-year-old woman from Watervilet. The driver of the ambulance, Kyle Robertson, 21, said he was shaken up but was not injured.

A second ambulance was dispatched to the scene and transported the original patient and the two media to the hospital. All of the injuries are believed to be non life-threatening.

Westbound I-94 was closed to traffic for about an hour after the crash.
