A mechanical malfunction occurred during routine maintenance as workers were preparing to take the water tower out of service.

LAKEVIEW, Mich. - The Village of Lakeview has issued a boil water advisory.

People living there should boil their water or use bottled water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, preparing food and brushing their teeth until further notice.

The precautionary advisory was issued after a the village's water distribution system had a loss of pressure. A mechanical malfunction occurred during routine maintenance as workers were preparing to take the water tower out of service on Monday, July 16.

Water pressure was restored in less than 25 minutes of the pressure loss. Staff is flushing the system and collecting samples for testing.

Once the test show there is no bacteria in the water the advisory will be lifted. Village leaders anticipate that to be done by Thursday, July 19.
