BANGOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Some corn crop was lost after a "stubborn" fire Saturday night.

The Bangor Community Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at a corn storage silo at the farm on 68th Street. The South Haven Area Emergency Services (SHAES) provided mutual aid.

SHAES says that firefighters had to climb up on a ladder to cut a hole through the metal roof of the silo in order to get water on the "stubborn" fire.

According to investigators, a corn-drying mechanism apparently malfunctioned.

The silo contained about 6,000 bushels of corn.
