LANSING - It's the law. Michigan drivers must treat intersections with malfunctioning traffic signals as four-way stops.
Lt. Gov. Brian Calley signed the measure into law on April 24, 2018. Most drivers already know to treat those intersections as four-way stops, but police say that some drivers on main roads assume they have the right of way.
The new law makes the four-way stop the official, legal procedure at malfunctioning stop lights.
