What's Up This Weekend: Kid's Club, Earth Day at the zoo and more

From Kid's Club at Koetsier's to Earth Day at the John Ball Zoo there is so much happening

It's Tuesday, which means 13 ON YOUR SIDE is looking forward to the weekend with the help of Grand Rapids Kids

This week we are starting with Koetsier's Greenhouse where every Saturday they host a Kid's Club event. Kids can choose between several different gardening projects. They can create a pansy pot for $10. Pansies do very well this time of year when it can still get cold.

Another option: plant a tomato! Koetsier's grows the plant for the family until it's warm enough to plant outside. Or kids can plant a succulent garden for $25. This weekend's project is painting a pot, then adding a pansy. Kids Club is every Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon.

Also this weekend, it's Party for the Planet at John Ball Zoo. All kinds of Earth Day activities are included with admission including booths, stations, demonstrations, and science experiments. More than 120 of the nation's zoos and aquariums are taking part, making it the largest Earth Day party in the US!

Saturday is Healthy Kids Day at YMCAs nationwide. From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. kids can get in free at all of our local YMCA's. There will be all kinds of opportunities for fun and active play as well as educational activities.
