What's Up This Weekend: Kids Night Out at the zoo, kite festival and sensory-friendly movies

It's Tuesday, which means we're taking a look at kid-friendly activities in West Michigan.

It's Tuesday, which means 13 ON YOUR SIDE is looking forward to the weekend with the help of Grand Rapids Kids. Since it's Baby Week here at 13 ON YOUR SIDE, we thought we'd give you a look at what you can do with your younger kids and toddlers.

This Friday is Kids Night Out at John Ball Zoo. For $25 per child, you kids will get a twilight tour of the zoo. There will also be crafts, stories, games and a pizza dinner. Participants must be between the ages of 4 and 10 and they may get grouped according to age for certain activities.

Also happening Friday, toddlers and their parents will have Altitude Trampoline Park in Walker all to themselves. Toddler Time runs from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. There's even a discount, $6.95 for kids and only $2 for their parents.

On Saturday and Sunday you can take the kids out to Grand Haven State Park where the brand new kite festival is going on. Along with public space to fly kites, there will be a special choreographed musical routine featuring giant inflatable kites.

Finally, the Family Hope Foundation and Celebration Cinema are teaming up for a unique movie experience for individuals with special needs and their families. Sensory-friendly movies will be shown at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, and this weekend it will be Detective Pikachu. Participating theaters include: Celebration Cinema North and South, both in Grand Rapids and Cinema Carousel in Muskegon.
