Hold on tight -- the unofficial start to summer marks the opening of Michigan's Adventure.

Park officials announced the Friday, May 27,opening of the West Michigan amusement park and its new Funland Farm. Those looking for a cool down will have to wait a day -- WildWater Adventure opens Saturday, May 28.

This season marks the park's 60th year. Funland Farm will be home to chickens, geese, goats, llamas and more, including the return of deer to the park after it had first opened as Deer Park in 1956, according to a news release.

Active and retired U.S. military personnel can get into Michigan's Adventure for free this Sunday and Monday. Those same members also can purchase $25 tickets for up to six people in their immediate family.

Daily tickets start at $31, with junior tickets starting at $29.99. Season passes are on sale at a discounted rate thorough Monday, May 30.
