Former reality TV star pleads guilty to aggravated DUI manslaughter

Former 'Little Women: Atlanta' star Melissa Hancock has pleaded guilty to Aggravated DUI Manslaughter. She now faces up to 20 years in prison.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- A former reality TV star has pleaded guilty for her role in a deadly 2017 crash in Virginia Beach.

25-year-old Melissa Hancock appeared in court Wednesday morning, where she pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI manslaughter.

She frequently appeared on the Lifetime TV series Little Women: Atlanta, a reality show about women of short stature.

Hancock was arrested after driving drunk the wrong way down Interstate 264 near the Oceanfront last November.

Police say she struck a car head-on, killing 29-year-old Daniel Dill. Dill was a U.S. Coast Guard technician. At the time of the crash, Dill was on his way to pick up his wife and friends, who were celebrating her birthday.

"An Uber costs 5, 10 dollars, a Lyft, there's so many options. This should not be occurring. Ever. Ever," said Natalie Dill, Daniel's wife. “I’m very happy that she pleaded guilty and that she did not make us go through a trial.”

With her guilty plea, Hancock faces up to 21 years in prison.
