Win up to $1,000 for redesigning the Grand Rapids park signs

The Parks and Recreation Department is looking to revamp the park signs throughout the city.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - It's time to modernize the park signs across the city and the Grand Rapids Park and Recreation Department is holding a competition for the best designs.

The competition is open to everyone through November 6. The winning submission will be used at all 75 parks throughout Grand Rapids and the winner will get up to $1,000 to collaborate with a licensed design profession to produce the final drawings.

The city's Park and Recreation Advisory Board will select finalists and ask the public to vote for the winning design from November 12 through 30 on Facebook or in person at the Parks and Recreation office in City Hall, located on Monroe Avenue.

“Whether you are an artist, architect, student or someone with an eye for design, we want to see your ideas,” Parks and Recreation Director David Marquardt said. “We’re drawing on the creativity of our community to help produce an eye-catching and welcoming sign that reflects our mission to provide the community with inspirational experiences in these beautiful parks.”
