More than a dozen people were injured after the deck at the Weaver House in Pine Bend Park collapsed during a party.

According to Ottawa County Sheriff Steve Kempker, the deck collapsed a little after 7 p.m. with 25-30 people on it at the time.

Witnesses said that the people on the deck and at the Weaver House were there for a gala in honor of those who donated to the recent North Ottawa Community Hospital emergency room expansion and remodeling project. More than 100 people where in attendance -- many of them doctors and nurses.

According to Kempker, the deck collapse in the center -- it is about 15 feet up and some people did fall into the collapsed area, however no one was trapped.

Kempker says 12 people were treated at the Weaver House and two others were taken to the hospital. They are expected to be okay.

The Weaver House will not be used until it is deemed safe again.
