Melania Trump's noticeably lighter hair shocks, causes Twitter uproar

Was it camera lights, or did first lady Melania Trump lighten her hair?

Melania Trump may want Americans to watch what she does rather than what she wears but now they're wondering what she's done... to her hair.

During her Wednesday visit to two Virginia military bases and a subsequent interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Trump's roots looked noticeably lighter than they did last week, indicating she'd had her highlights redone. But did she opt for a new a lighter shade – we're talking Donald-light here – or was it the camera lights rather than her colorist making her look blonder than usual? Let the Twitter speculation begin!

They do say couples begin to look alike after a while

"Donald & Melania now have matching hair," @OMAHAEMGIRL pointed out.

Perhaps there was confusion in the White House bathroom that morning, hypothesized @JohnBrynt.

"I think Melania mixed up her hair dye with Donald," he suggested.

Why, girl, why?

"Melania, coloring your own hair in the White House bathroom is not a good idea," cautioned @FlipBlue2020.

"As a fake blonde my ownself, I (would) like to defend my people," @FakaktaSouth said of the new shade. "What Melania did to her hair is more spicy mustard at the Chinese take out place, not blonde."

@JimReinhardt6 thought she was just being a devoted wife: "Trump needed a new hair donor and Melania stepped up!"

She reminds me of someone...

Other folks suspected it wasn't her husband Trump was trying to emulate. Maybe it was his platinum-blond daughter?

"Who is this rough looking imposter?" asked @SVSalon. "Surely not melania trying in her latter years to bleach her hair like Ivanka. Sad"

Or perhaps another blond from Trump's life, @Sebulia suggested.

Or all the blonds on his TV?

"Did Melania dye her hair blonde for the Fox interview to fit in?" @CatPop asked

@CaseyHinds had the same thought.

Where's the real Melania, and what did they do with her?

Other folks just wanted to know why she did it – or if it was even real – or even her.

"Who is this person?" asked @andradare. "She doesn’t quite look like the original Melania, and it’s not just hair color. This face structure is younger."

Well, there goes that #hairgoal

"I once showed my hair stylist a picture of Melania’s highlights," admitted @bliccy. "Just had to get that off my chest."

New hair, new Melania?

Given that Trump's color change coincided with the sentencing of former Trump fixer Michael Cohen, @Connerish thought perhaps the first lady was also cooperating with Robert Mueller and had jumped the gun a little.

"You wait until AFTER you are in the witness protection program to bleach your hair. You #BeBest buying some cream rinse," she advised.

"Is Melania starting her getaway disguise with this hair color or trying to look like Ivanka?" asked @RhondaBarket.

"I wonder what Melania is changing...besides her hair color," asked @FrecklePumpkin

@GregDeckard also suspected the new color was signaling a larger change. Or at least that's what his wife told him.

Ignore the haters

The new look did get a thumbs-up from at least a few supporters.

"You look beautiful with your new hair color, you look beautiful with ANY color, and those trashing you are just dying of envy! Give it to them! Melania blond rocks!" @Jovisoul wrote.

"These comment(s) would suggest that Melania dying her hair is a bad thing," argued @xV_Krampus. "You know, the same women that scream, 'EMPOWERMENT' are judging her for her blonde hair. With that out of the way, how many women in these comment section you think has fried hair from dying it so much?"
