One Good Thing: Big turnout for Peyton's birthday

A young boy battling a rare brain cancer had a LOT of first responders show up to his 5th birthday party.

IONIA, Mich. — Fifth birthdays are a big deal.  Ask any five year old.  And I want to mention one such birthday that took place last month.

Peyton Dennis, from Muir, is battling an inoperable brain cancer.  His family threw him a huge party... and lots of local first responders showed up.  These pictures are from GRPD's Facebook page.  Officers Zuby and Johnson showed up on their own time... with the department's SWAT Bearcat tactical armored vehicle.  They write: "Peyton, you are an amazing little gift from up above and have made an impact on many, especially the officers from the Grand Rapids Police Department that had the chance to share your special day."

GRPD and everyone who showed up to Peyton's birthday party get today's One Good Thing.  And so does Peyton.

If you have a One Good Thing you'd like to submit - someone or something that makes West Michigan a good place to live - email me with your photos and-or video at OneGoodThing@13OnYourSide.
