One Good Thing: Leaders for the 21st Century

A group of 7th graders are spending two days learning how to be the leaders of tomorrow.

HOLLAND, Mich - For another year, a group of students in the Holland-Zeeland area are learning to be leaders.

The "Leaders for the 21st Century" is taking place Thursday and Friday June 14-15, 2018. It's a joint program of the Holland-Zeeland Rotary Clubs and four area school systems. This year 56 seventh graders are learning about service to others, tutoring, inclusion programs, raising money for school and community projects and more.

There are as many volunteers helping out as there are kids taking part. They also have 12 counselors who are, themselves, former participants. More than 800 have gone through the program through the years.

An email sent to WZZM says they encourage future leaders to do everything from helping fellow students with their lockers, to mission trips to Central America.

The "Leaders for the 21st Century" program gets today's One Good Thing.

If you have a One Good Thing you'd like to submit - someone or something that makes West Michigan a good place to live - email Nick LaFave at OneGoodThing@WZZM13.com.
