PORT SHELDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - One person is dead after being struck by a car just before midnight Friday night. The accident happened on northbound US-31 just north of Taylor Street. The northbound lanes were closed for several hours during the investigation.
Deputies report that the victim was a 30 year old from Holland. They also report that the victim came out from a wooded area in the median into the road just before getting hit.
The driver of the vehicle is uninjured. He immediately called 911 after the accident occurred and has been fully cooperative with law enforcement.
