Guiding Lights honors their elderly volunteers during Volunteer Appreciation Week

Six volunteers between the ages of 66 and 90 who help those struggling with addiction, unemployment or homelessness are now being honored for their selflessness.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - As nonprofits nationwide prepare to recognize volunteers, Guiding Light in Grand Rapids has a special set of volunteers they want to highlight this week.

The Golden Girls and Guys of Guiding Light are six volunteers between the ages of 66 and 90, who give up time each week to help those in need at Guiding Light -- many who struggling with addiction, unemployment or homelessness.

Helen, Evie, Noel, Wendy, Lou and Herm show up to Guiding Light nearly every Monday to make lunches as part of the Back to Work program.
