Changes to Michigan voting law: Do-over absentee ballots and same-day registration, voting

Gov. Snyder signed the bill into law letting people who have already cast an absentee ballot an opportunity to scrap their ballot and vote again.

LANSING - A new Michigan law would give absentee voters a do-over, while another bill would let people register and vote on election day.

Gov. Snyder signed the bill into law letting people who have already cast an absentee ballot an opportunity to scrap their ballot and vote again.

Another bill introduced last week would help those who haven't registered to vote.

It would allow people to register to vote on election day and then cast their ballot that same day.

Currently, people have to register well in advance of election day if they want to vote. The senate bill has been referred to an elections oversight committee.
