Democrats come to Grand Rapids to highlight candidates

As of Tuesday, there are a little more than 80 days left until Michigan's General Election. Candidates in all parties are trying to find the best way to promote their ideas and agendas before then.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Democratic candidates in Grand Rapids will be speaking at an event called "Progressives in the Park."

It's happening Tuesday, August 14 from 4 to 8 p.m., at Wilcox Park on the southeast side.

U.S. Congressman Dan Kildee from the Flint area will be there along with local nominees for the state Senate and House of Representatives, Secretary of State, Attorney General and others.

Advocates for an anti-gerrymandering effort called "Voters Not Politicians" will be there.

Last week, Republicans held their own unity rally featuring Vice President Mike Pence at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in downtown Grand Rapids. We'll keep you up to date on the latest political events for all parties leading up to Election Day on November 6.
