GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- A local veteran can now enjoy the outdoors, thanks to a specialized wheelchair.

The Police Officers Association of Michigan delivered the Action TrackChair to the Grand Rapids home for veterans on Thursday.

The $15,000 wheelchair will make it possible for Air Force veteran Stan Macey to better enjoy hunting and fishing.

"With this, I'll be able to get outside and away from everybody's lines and get out where I can get some better fish hopefully," Macey said.

"We want to give a level of freedom that they may not have had in a long time, hunting and fishing," said Jim Tignanelli of the Police Officers Association of Michigan. "We've given them away to guys who've told me, 'I haven't been able to fish anywhere but a bridge, and now I can drive to the edge of the stream.' It's very gratifying to be a part of it."

The Action TrackChair lets users travel on all kinds of terrain and comes equipped with a power seat tilt.
