GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - 100 years ago H.R. Terryberry created one of Grand Rapids' first ever startups.

The family-owned company celebrated their success with an employee picnic on Thursday, Aug. 23.

The journey started with hand crafted pocket watches to serve as rewards for client companies to give to their top performers. The notion of recognizing employees for their work was a new concept at the time.

Now, 100 years later, those hand crafted pocket watches may have been replaced, but Terryberry's goal remains the same.

According to a press release, the company provides rewards including everything from wellness programs to corporate rings to more than 25,000 different clients.
