AUSTIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Alcohol and careless driving are believed to be factors in an early Saturday morning crash that left four people injured.
According to the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office, around 4 a.m. on Saturday deputies were dispatched a 1-car crash on 170th Avenue, south of 8 Mile Road in Austin Township.
Investigation showed the vehicle was doing donuts before authorities arrived and struck a stop sign in the intersection. The 21-year-old driver from Big Rapids continued south doing burn outs, lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.
There were three passengers inside, a 22-year-old White Cloud woman, a 26-year-old Stanwood man and a 22-year-old Conklin woman. All three suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to an area hospital. The driver suffered only minor injuries, deputies report.
