A 25-year-old man was arrested and spent the evening in jail after he crashed into a police cruiser while allegedly drunk.
It happened Saturday morning around 2:30 a.m., according to a news release from the Grand Rapids Police Department.
A police lieutenant was stopped at the intersection at Michigan Street and Lafayette Avenue NE, when the cruiser was hit from behind by another vehicle. The driver of that car -- the 25-year-old man -- attempted to take off on Michigan Street.
The 25-year-old crashed his car into a parked car near Michigan Street and Monroe Avenue minutes later and attempted to run from the scene, however he was caught and arrested.
Police said no one was hurt in the incident.
This case will be presented to the Kent County Prosecutor's Office for review. It remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Grand Rapids Police at 616-456-3400 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
