Three motorists helped pull an unconscious woman from her burning vehicle after an accident Monday morning.

Kent County Deputy Ron Kimbrough was stuck in construction traffic on southbound US-131 near West River Drive around 8:30 a.m. when a driver pulled up next to him and told him about a serious accident that just occurred nearby, according to a press release.

Deputy Kimbrough was able to turn his patrol car around and locate the accident 10-15 car lengths away, where a vehicle rear-ended a small pickup truck. The pickup was on fire and the female driver was pinned in and unconscious.

The other driver was able to exit her vehicle on her own and was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Three other drivers exited their cars and helped Deputy Kimbrough smash the woman’s driver door window out. After that, they pulled her to safety away from the burning truck.

Both vehicles were quickly engulfed in flames until the Plainfield Fire Department extinguished the fire.

Life Ambulance transported the victim to Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids. Her condition is unknown at this time.

The accident remains under investigation.
