Falling limb causes crash that kills men from Wyoming and Hudsonville

Two men have died after a tree limb fell while they were riding motorcycles in Barry County.

UPDATE, May 29: Police have identified the 47-year-old Wyoming man as Christian Nederveld and the 55-year-old Hudsonville man as Jeffrey Altena.

YANKEE SPRINGS TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Barry County deputies say two men were thrown from their motorcycles during a crash on the evening of Sunday, May 27.

The men were heading south on Yankee Springs Road near White Pine Drive just after 8 p.m. when a tree limb fell on top of one of the motorcycles. The second rider hit that same limb. Both were thrown from their motorcycles.

The man from Hudsonville, a 55 year old, was pronounced dead on the scene. The Wyoming man, a 47 year old, died at the hospital.

Both men were wearing helmets when the crash happened.
