In a statement from the school, Rathbun was a member of the school's cross country team and worked as a basketball referee.
Northview High School Principal Mark Thomas stated, “Stephen was a valued and respected member of our school. He was thoughtful, intelligent, competitive, caring and funny. He made friends easily and treated others as he wished to be treated.
"The entire Northview school community joins together to send our thoughts, prayers and love to his family as we mourn his tragic loss.”
Northview crisis team members will continue to be available to meet with students who wish to talk with them about this tragic event.
