West Michigan pays tribute to veterans with Memorial Day events

Most communities were able to hold their events before rain is expected to hit West Michigan.

WALKER, Michigan — Monday morning and afternoon, parades were held across West Michigan as a way to honor and pay tribute to fallen members of the military.

The city of Walker held their parade at noon, and it featured some familiar faces from 13 ON YOUR SIDE.

Most communities in the area were able to hold their annual Memorial Day parades and events before the rain is expected to arrive in the early evening.

However, the threat of rain is affecting the vibe at Wyoming's Memorial Day ceremony. The city decided to cancel their annual event, which was scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Garden.

The city of Grand Rapids is hosting its Memorial Day parade on Thursday. It starts at 7 p.m. and runs from North Division Avenue and Lyon Street NW to Veterans Park.

The full list of Memorial Day events can be seen here.
