GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Students from over 55 schools across West Michigan honored veterans and military personnel Friday at the Armed Forces Thanksgiving.

More than 100 veterans and active military were on-hand for the fourth annual celebration at Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum.

A luncheon was held and Jerry Linenger, a retired Captain in the U.S. Navy and a former NASA astronaut was the guest speaker.

Students and military personnel also were later involved in a bagpipe processional from the Ford Museum to the J.W. Marriott.

The mission of The Armed Forces Thanksgiving is to give a community salute to military members, while providing education for high school students.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the West Michigan Veterans Coalition, which provides support and resources to veterans.
