Yes, driving too slow can get you pulled over in Michigan

An Indiana deputy is being praised for pulling over a driver going slow in the left lane.

An Indiana police officer has become Twitter famous after telling the Internet that he pulled a driver over for going too slow in the left lane.

Yes, too slow. Driving slowly in the fast lane is illegal in many states.

The “Left Lane Law” went into effect in Indiana in 2015, Sgt. Stephen Wheeles of the Indiana State Police Department said on Twitter. If there are vehicles behind you and you’re impeding a normal flow of traffic, Wheeles said you risk being pulled over if you don’t move to the right lane to allow them to pass.

Michigan has a similar law that says the left lane of any Michigan state highway is for passing only and you must move to the right if you’re blocking traffic. The law gets more lenient when there is heavy traffic.

Anyone who gets caught cruising in the left lane in Michigan could get a ticket or points on their license.

Forty-four states have these "Left Lane" laws or "Keep Right" laws.
