NFL free agency opens Wednesday, March 14 at 4 p.m. and one of the most highly sought after players this offseason is a West Michigan native.
Former Holland Christian High School and Michigan State University standout Kirk Cousins will soon decide which team he will play for going forward.
He wrote an open goodbye letter to the Washington Redskins and their fans Monday through a blog post.
"Just like you never fully leave your hometown -- you never fully leave your first NFL team," he said.
Fellow quarterback Case Keenum, who led his Minnesota Vikings to the NFC Championship, reached a verbal deal with the Broncos Monday. He's expected to make that agreement official Wednesday.
That means Cousins will likely land with the Vikings, Arizona Cardinals or the New York Jets.
While he makes his decision, ESPN reports a camera crew will follow Cousins. He recently announced he'll be the subject of a documentary that walks fans through free agency. It's not clear when or where that documentary will air.
