WHITEHALL, Mich. -- Opening night for high school football in Michigan is Thursday, August 23, which means the 13 ON YOUR SIDE sports department has a lot of scouting to do before the first 13 On Your Sidelines show that same night. We're crisscrossing the area letting you know about as many West Michigan football programs as we can.
The Whitehall Vikings have turned a corner over the last five years. After going 1-8 in 2013, they came back the next year and went 9-3. They've been in the playoffs every year since.
Coaches say they believe in the system and have stayed true to it. They're banking on team unity putting them over the top this year. They also want into instill into the squad mindset that every play matters.
Whitehall opens up against Kelloggsville.
