Whitecaps nix nearly 5,000-calorie Fifth Third Burger

This is the final season of the Fifth Third Burger.

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. - The West Michigan Whitecaps announced on Monday that they are retiring their gargantuan Fifth Third Burger.

The nearly 5,000-calorie burger made national headlines when it debuted in 2009, and it was featured on an episode of Man vs. Food in 2011. 13 ON YOUR SIDE's own traffic reporter, Dave Kaechele even tried (and failed) to eat the whole thing when the Whitecaps released it nearly 10 years ago.

The massive menu item has five one-third pound beef patties, nacho cheese, chili, salsa, tortilla chips, lettuce and tomato on an 8-inch sesame seed bun. The entire burger weighs more than four pounds, and the Whitecaps serve it in a pizza box.

For fans who haven't tried the Fifth Third Burger yet, they still have a chance. The Whitecaps said that they are retiring it at the end of this season, which means hungry fans have ten games left to try the massive burger.
