Comerica Park on Opening Day, March 29, 2018, after the Detroit Tigers postpone the game due to inclement weather.

For the fourth time this season, a Detroit Tigers game has been postponed because of inclement weather.

Saturday's game against the New York Yankees at Comerica Park was postponed because of heavy rains that are expected to stay in the area throughout the day.

The Yankees and Tigers will try to play a split doubleheader on Sunday. The first game begins at 1:10 p.m. and the second game starts at 7:10 p.m.

There is rain in the forecast on Sunday, and Wayne County is under a winter storm advisory for possible ice, sleet and snow overnight.

All paid tickets from Saturday’s game are valid for entry for the second game of tomorrow's split doubleheader. Fans unable to attend the rescheduled game may exchange their unused tickets at any time for any future similar-or-lesser priced regular season game in the next 12 months, excluding Opening Day next season.

The postponement marks the Tigers’ fourth of the season, all coming at Comerica Park. Opening Day on March 29 was postponed until March 30. The team’s second game of the season on March 31 was postponed until April 1, when the Tigers and Pirates played a split doubleheader. And the team’s sixth game of the season, on April 4 against the Royals, also was postponed.

The Tigers will stay in rotation through Sunday's split doubleheader. Left-hander Francisco Liriano is slated to start the first game and lefty Matthew Boyd is slated to start the second game.

If the teams are unable to play on Sunday, keep an eye on June 4 for a potential make-up date. Both teams share a mutual off-day.
