AAA: Celebrate Cinco de Mayo by staying safe on the road

If you're going to celebrate with alcohol, make sure you have a designated (sober) driver -- or call a tow.

AAA Michigan is sending out a statewide Cinco de Mayo safety alert asking motorists to take extra steps to stay safe on the roads this weekend.

According to AAA, the Cinco de Mayo holiday weekend poses a potentially higher risk for impaired driving.

AAA offers the following advice:

  1. Always drive safe and sober.
  2. Designate an alcohol and other drug-free driver before the party starts.
  3. Be a responsible party host and check out the Great Pretenders Party Guide.
  4. Use the TOW TO GO program in Michigan offered by AAA in partnership with Budweiser.
