Kent County Road Commission a month behind on road repairs

Construction work is set to resume this week and the Kent County Road Commission said they're behind.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed an executive order late last week allowing certain types of workplaces to reopen, including construction, real estate and work that is primarily performed outside.

Low-risk industries are set to resume work on starting at 12:01 on May 7, including the Kent County Road Commission.

The road commission said work will resume Thursday because they're about a month behind on road repairs.

With fewer people on the road and lower gas tax revenue, the road commission projects about a 10% budget loss. Luckily, the mild winter West Michigan saw has helped to save some money.
