Asphalt is being laid on Cottonwood Dr in Georgetown Twp. Monday, Dec. 10, 2018.

JENISON, Mich. - Cottonwood Drive will remain closed to through traffic for the duration of the winter and into the spring, according to the Ottawa County Road Commission.

Work to finish the project will resume in the spring, including placing the top course asphalt. MDOT contractors worked on the concrete driveway approaches along the eastern half of Cottonwood Drive on Monday.

For those who live and work within the project limits, access will be maintained. The existing barricades will be moved on Cottonwood to improve the flow of traffic and accessibility for those living and doing business within the project limits. This includes the removal of the temporary closure at Village Lane and moving the Cottonwood closure at Bauer Road to the south of the intersection.

For other motors, the road commission is asking that the posted detour is utilized. That detour is Baldwin Street to 20th Avenue to Bauer Road to 24th Avenue to Fillmore Street.

For more information, visit the road commission's online project website.
