A 35-year-old father was killed and three other people injured following a multi-vehicle crash on Friday morning.

According to the Mason County Sheriff's Office, it happened just after 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 on US-10, west of the City of Scottville.

A 1995 full-size Chevy van was traveling eastbound on US-10 when it crossed the centerline, traveled through the center turn lane and hit a 2011 Kia head-on. The van then hit a 2006 Dodge minivan that was traveling westbound.

The driver of the KIA, Benjamin Compeau, 35, of Scottville, was killed instantly. His 1 ½ year old son was secured in a child safety seat on the back passenger side and only received minor cuts in the crash. The child was taken to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital.

The driver of the Chevy van, Laurence Adams Jr., 22, of Scottville, was left critically injured and flown to Munson Hospital in Traverse City. His passenger, Chelsea Warden, 22, also from Scottville, was also hurt and taken to the hospital.

The driver of the Dodge minivan, Jonathan Dipple, 23, of Custer, was also hurt.

Michigan State Police and Mason County Sheriff's Office will be working together to investigate the crash.
