After months of delays, a portion of US-131 in northern Kent County is set to be reopened midday Wednesday, Dec. 19.

According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, the highway will be reopened around noon.

US-131 between 10 Mile and 14 Mile roads, north of downtown Grand Rapids, has been closed since early summer. Crews first started work on the southbound lanes, and were more recently working on the northbound lanes. Labor disputes delayed the project, pushing back wrap dates.

More work still needs to be completed on the project. MDOT says there will be single lane closures through Dec. 23.

The ramps from 10 Mile to north and southbound US-131 will also reopen, as well as the exit ramp from northbound US-131 to 14 Mile Road.
