OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — A 26-year-old Grand Rapids woman was hurt in a crash on the highway in Ottawa County and authorities believe alcohol may have been involved.

According to a press release from the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office it happened on Saturday, March 14 just before 9 p.m. near the 23 mile marker of westbound I-96 in Wright Township.

Investigators say a 2020 Ford Fusion was trying the exit I-96 at exit 23 and the driver, the 26-year-old Grand Rapids woman, failed to navigate the curve in the off-ramp. She drove straight through the ramp, crossing the on-ramp to I-96 from 16th Avenue before stopping in a ditch on the other side.

The woman was hurt in the crash. She was taken to Spectrum Hospital in stable condition, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, but the incident is still under investigation.
